ourt (IHC) issu
ed a notice to Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Chairman, Absar Alam on
Wednesday for a petition seeking contempt of c
ourt proceedings to be initiated against him.
Former secretary of IHC Bar Association Waqas Malik Advocate has filed against chairman PEMRA.
The petitioner argues that Absar Alam during a press conference attempt to cast aspersion on c
ourt saying courts are performing actions that PEMRA is supposed to to do so.
He fu
rther said that Chairman PEMRA had leveled baseless allegations against courts. The petitioner pleaded IHC to initiate contempt of c
ourt proceedings against chairman PEMRA.
An IHC bench heard the petition on
Wednesday. Hearing preliminary arguments of the petitioner counsel the c
ourt issued notice to Chairman PEMRA. The c
ourt also sought CD of Chairman PEMRA’s press conference from Director General PEMRA.

ourt adjourned fu
rther hearing of the petition
by May 16, 2017.
It is to be mentioned here that the petitioner had also blamed chairman PEMRA of committing treason. He fu
rther pleaded the c
ourt to order Article 6 proceeding against Absar Alam.
